The University of Utah Hopsital system sits on the East benches above the University of Utah. This area houses a variety of medical research, education and treatment facilities including the Univeristy Hospital, Primary Childrens Medical Center and the new Huntsman Cancer Institute. Salt Lake City Health Directory lists web sites for area hospitals.
In this gallery, I decided to take a walk on the Bonneville Shoreline trail to the East of the Medical facilities.
This section of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail is quite interesting. The trail provides views of the towering buildings of the medical centers along with killer vistas of Salt Lake City.
The East side of the trail is grass covered wilderness with interesting trails leading to the various mountain tops and canyons.
This section of the Bonneville Shoreline Trails provides a good example of my ideal of urban planning. Basically you have a dense urban area bordering wilderness. If you are working at the hospital or in research park, you can take a break and walking into a peaceful wide open area.
There are very few places in the west which have achieved this ideal.
