Cattle Chute (2010-04-16) I filmed the start of the race in video mode. The first stage of the race brings people through this chute ... which happens to measure each of their chips. It would be interesting to see the race from the air and the crowd thins.

Marathon Race (2010-04-16) Marathon Runners race past the University Trax station. They could save a lot of time, just hopping on the train to the Gateway, but I guess they want to see Holladay first.

Marathon Distance (2010-04-16) The Marathon runners race toward Mount Olympus. The turn around point of the race is due West of the peak in Holladay Utah. Essentially, they run to that mountain and back.

Marathon Race (2010-04-16) The opening race is a bit crowded. The runners essentially run to that mountain and back. Come to think of it. I used to do this route regularly on my bike when I went to the U. The bike ride is easier than a run.

Marathon and Huntsman Center (2010-04-16) The Marathon starts just East of the Huntsman Center, home of U of U Basketball.

Under the Bridge (2010-04-16) I took the previous set of pictures while standing on the George Eccles Bridge.

2002 Legacy Bridge (2010-04-16) The 2002 Olympic Legacy Bridge was build for the 2002 Winter Games. It attached the Olympic Village in Fort Douglas to the University of Utah.

University Medical Complex (2010-04-16) The University of Utah Medical Complex includes the Cancer Insttitute, Moran Eye Center, Primary Childrens Medical Center and University Medical School.

Waiting in Line (2010-04-16) The race started 15 minutes ago. Those planning on going before they went are still standing in line at the port-a-potties.

Olympic Memorial (2010-04-16) The Olympic Memorial statue at the George Eccles Bridge shows about 8 years of weathering.

Salt Lake Marathon

The Salt Lake Marathon is an annual event with a variety of events including an early morning bike tour of the marathon route, a marathon, half marathon and a 5K walk/run.

The site Marathon Foto has a massive gallery of marathon related photos.

My new Nikon D90 has a video feature. I decidede to try it out by recording the first three minutes of the race and uploaded to YouTube. My copy has a substantially higher resolution. The video shows the racing crowd split by the Trax Train.
