Hilton Hotels

The Hilton Hotel chain was founded by Conrad Hilton who, in 1919, purchased the Mobley Hotel in Cisco, Texas. Conrad Hilton opened his first namesake hotel in Dallas in 1925.

The hotels began the process of national and international expansion. Notably, in 1949, Ramon Marrero invented the Piña Colada at the Caribe Hilton in Puerto Rico.

The company accelerated expansion with the Statler Chain of business hotels in 1954. The company has expanded with the brands Hilton Hotels, Doubletree Hotels, Embassy Suite Hotels, Hampton Inn, and Waldorff Astoria Hotels.

Hilton Worldwide(*) reports that the brand has over 4000 properties with over 670,000 rooms in 90 countries.
