Fillmore, Utah

Fillmore, Utah is a small town in central Utah. Located near the geographic center of the state, Fillmore was chosen in 1851 as the territorial capital. Political intrigue eventually gave the distinction of state capital to Salt Lake City. Fillmore does sport the first of four wings of the Utah Territorial Statehouse.

Fillmore is the county seat of Millard County. Both city and county were named for Millard Fillmore who was a proponent for granting statehood to the "State of Deseret" and had contributed to the building of the statehouse.
