Digital SLRs finally took the long awaited price drop. There are now quality digital SLRs for serious amateur photographers. In September 2005, I took the plunge and purchased the Nikon D70 Digital SLR Camera w/Sigma Two-Lens Kit package from Ritz Camera. I actually jumped on the offer the day it appeared on the site. A wise decision as the D70s sold out within a few days.
The 28-90mm lens gives me the ideal range for the majority of photos I take. The zoom is also quite handy. I have to admit, I would love to complement the lenses with a fixed length zoom for wildlife pictures and a wide angle lens to see if I can capture a few panoramas. Of course, I have a great deal to learn with the bundle I purchased.
So far, I am absolutely thrilled with the combination of lenses and the quality and versatility of the camera. IMHO, Nikon did a great job leap frogging the digital rebel.
