Green Bikes (2013-05-29) You can rent a bike from self service bike racks in Salt Lake City. This rack is located at entrance to City Creek Center Harmons. Dusty Bike (2020-08-09) I pulled my bike out of storage to see if I could get it running again. I put the bike in storage because a dog showed up on the porch 17 years ago. I figured any recreation time I had should be spent with the dog. (2020-08-09) Rear Derailer (2020-08-09) The rear derailer looked as bad as the front. I hope that this rust is just superficial. Hose Down (2020-08-09) I gave the bike a good hose down and concentrated a high pressure wash on the chain. I hope that the grass likes the iron as I didn't want to waste the water. I covered the gears in WD40. I will add bike lubricants before riding. Broken Pump (2020-08-09) My hand pump is broken. The rubber end disintegrated and snapped off. I will have to figure out how to inflate the tires tomorrow. Bell Helmet (2020-08-11) I pulled my trusty Bell Helmet out of storage. The tape around the edge gave out but the plastic shell and Styrofoam padding seem okay. I wonder if these things ever wear out? Sigma Sport (2020-08-11) This is my fancy cycling computer. The battery had gone dead while the bike was in storage. BikeLink Cage (2021-07-02) This cage at the University of Utah Trax station can hold two bikes. BikeLink Cage (2021-07-02) This bikelink cage can hold two bikes. Blown Tire (2021-07-24) The tire on my bicycle blew out last year and I am looking for a way to repair it. My pump is broken as well; so I am thinking of getting an airless tire. Rusty Cassette (2022-07-01) My tires popped a few years back and I had to abandon my bike a few years ago. I left the cassette covered in grease hoping that would reduce the rust. I bought a new tire and hope to get the thing going again. My Installation Solution (2022-07-03) I spent several hours trying to get the tires installed. For the first tire, I set several pins in place and was able to finish the install with two pry bars. The second one I used two clamps and three pry bars. Tires Fully Installed (2022-07-03) These are my tires fully installed. It took about six hours. I recommend buying them for a local store. Medieval Torture Device by Specialized (2022-07-08) Instead of a regular seat, my bike came with this medievaltorture device by Specialized designed to cut into the soft tissue of the groin and castrate the cyclist. I put a gel padding on the seat, but the padding got squished while the bike was in storage. Stuck Gears (2022-07-08) I covered the drive chain in grease before I put it in storage. I will need to give this old bike a good cleaning and perhaps I will buy a better lubricant than the motor oil that I had used in the past. BST into SLC (2022-07-08) The picture shows one of the footbridges of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail, the intersection of I80 and I215 with Salt Lake City framed by Antelope Island in the distance. Containers for Recycled Glass (2022-07-08) These cointainer collect recycled glass. They are at the entrance to a bike trail. I used to avoid this trail but since I am testing solid tires, I rode right through this area. 1-23 Pictures Bikes Pictures of bikes, cyclists or related to cycling.
