The La Sal Mountains are a mountain range in Eastern Utah southeast of Moab. The Uplifting of the La Sal Mountains was a primary ingredient in the shaping of the scenic landscape in Canyonlands.
A large number of photographs contrast the hot desert heat with the towering snowcapped peaks of the La Sal Range. The La Sal Mountain loop is a favorite challenge of road cyclists. This loop starts in Moab then winds through steep mountain slopes and then drops through the stunning landscapes of Castle Valley and the Colorado River canyon to return to Moab.
